Chad Johnson Wins Arenacross Title

Johnson rode his Honda CRF250R to victory.
March 24, 2008

US - The first Honda champion of the year is Chad Johnson. Chad has just won the 2007 AMA Arenacross title on his Honda CRF250R.

The Arenacross series actually started at the end of 2007 last year and ran throughout the winter. Going into the final event last weekend in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Honda rider had a healthy lead in the season’s points, including seven overall event victories. Still, racing is racing, and the championship came down all the way to the series closer. Johnson didn’t need to win, and he rode smart.

“It’s hard to put into words how great I feel right now,” said Johnson. “All the hard work over the summer to prepare for this year paid off. And the last-minute deal Dave Antolak put together to get me on the Honda team was also a big help. Winning it a night early, in front of my family and friends here in Wisconsin, just made it that much better.”

Johnson finished the night on the podium in third after running second for most of the race. It was a smart, easy ride for Johnson, who finishes the year with a 20-point cushion at the end of the season.
